Getting here

Just down the Trans-Canada from our shop

With just over half an hour of drive time from our shop to the heart of Blind Bay or Sorrento, we're a short trip away from helping you out with all of your plumbing, heating and cooling needs.

That makes a Blind Bay job a normal day's work for our crews rather than a special trip, whether it's a quote on a heat pump, a service call or a whole-house repipe. And there's no separate rural rate for it.

Services

What we do in Blind Bay

Plumbing, heating, cooling and gas fitting under one roof, so one job doesn't need two companies booked around each other.

Plumbing

  • Water heaters, tank and tankless
  • Lines that have burst, frozen or started leaking
  • Drains that back up, and drain cleaning
  • Toilets, taps and fixtures, including the fixture side of a bathroom or kitchen renovation
  • Water and sewer lines from the house out to the property line

If it carries water and it's stopped behaving, it's our work.

Heating and cooling

  • Furnaces, boilers and radiant in-floor heating
  • Heat pumps, air conditioning and ductless mini-splits
  • Service calls on a system that's limping, right through to a full replacement
  • Gas fitting in-house, so a furnace swap or a new gas line doesn't need a second company booked in behind us
  • Rebate paperwork: we complete the contractor portion and walk you through yours

Blind Bay specialties

The jobs that come up again and again in Blind Bay:

  • Water purification and UV systems, for homes that are tired of boil water advisories
  • Drain and sewer camera inspections on the line out to the septic tank
  • Drain and sewer line replacement
  • Poly-B replacement, since a lot of Blind Bay was built in the Poly-B years

If it runs between your tap and your septic tank, it's our work.

Local conditions

What's different about plumbing and heating in Blind Bay

Blind Bay isn't a town with one water system and one sewer. That's what makes plumbing here different, and it's most of what we get called about.

Small water systems drawing on the lake

There's no single town water system in Blind Bay. Depending on your street you're on one of several small systems drawing from Shuswap Lake, such as the regional district's Cedar Heights and MacArthur Reedman systems or Shuswap Lake Estates' private utility, or on your own well.

Small systems with lake intakes have had a rough few years. In August 2024 a pump failure in the Cedar Heights deep-water intake cut water to about 450 households, and a boil water notice stayed in place while the water was tested. The MacArthur Reedman system, serving about 130 homes, has had repeated boil water advisories and conservation orders as its equipment failed, and the regional district is now replacing its lake intake.

None of that is your plumbing's fault, but it does land in your house. A point-of-entry filter or UV system gives you a second line of defence, sized to what your water actually needs. It doesn't replace following a notice, so sign up for the regional district's Alertable notifications either way.

Septic, not sewer

Blind Bay has no community sewer. The regional district has identified community sewer systems for Sorrento and Blind Bay but is still waiting on grant funding to build them. Outside Shuswap Lake Estates, which runs its own treatment lagoons, homes drain to their own septic systems.

The plumbing side of a septic system is everything from your drains to the tank. When that line sags, cracks or gets into roots, everything upstream slows down. A sewer camera shows us exactly where and why before anyone picks up a shovel.

Pumping the tank and work on the field are a septic contractor's job, and we're happy to work alongside yours.

Heating you can stop thinking about

In the 2021 census the median age in the South Shuswap was 58.8, and more than a third of residents were 65 or older. What most people here want from a heating system is the same: something reliable, easy to live with, and quoted honestly, without being talked into more than the house needs.

A ductless heat pump heats and cools without any new ductwork, which often makes it the simplest upgrade in an older home. And if the place sits empty for part of the winter, the plumbing needs planning for that too: shut-offs you can find, lines that can be drained, and heat that won't quietly fail while you're away.

The process

What happens when you call

You reach a person

Tell us what the system's doing. If it's an emergency, we'll tell you how soon we can get there and what to shut off in the meantime so it doesn't get worse. If it can wait for regular hours, we'll say so, and save you the after-hours rate.

We look at it before we quote it

You get a clear explanation of what's actually wrong, why it happened, how long the fix will take and what it's going to cost, before we even pick up a wrench. Estimates are free, and we won't change the number partway through the job.

We do the work

But we don't just slap it in and call it a day. The pipe run behind a panel gets the same care as the tap on your sink, even though you're never going to see it again once the cover's back on.

We clean up and show you around

We clean up, show you how to use your new equipment and how to look after it, and let you know if and when it'll need maintenance.

Thanks to the team at Ecoflow, my place was out of the way and they are the only ones who could be bothered to help me replace an old oil furnace with a propane. The communication was excellent from everyone, I wasn't sitting around wondering if they had a plan or what that might be. Thanks guys, just being upfront is helpful.

What our customers say

Rated 5 out of 5

Just an amazing overall experience!! From Cassie coordinating in the office to Paul and Sergei in the field, they are true professionals who strive for an amazing customer experience. Extremely knowledgeable and professional. Truly want their customers to be happy. Came to my home in Eagle Bay which is quite remote to have a look and provide quote. Installed a phenomenal mini split unit within a week and I couldn't be happier.

During install when I wasn't available, Paul was sure to FaceTime to ensure all was in installed exactly where I wanted. Amazing work and so happy with the clean install. Left zero mess and have followed up to make sure all is working well and I am happy. I couldn't recommend this company more if you need anything they do!! Choose these folks. They are the best.

FAQ

Common questions from Blind Bay homeowners

Do you come out to Blind Bay for emergencies?

Yes, and emergency calls are answered around the clock. We can't guarantee a set callout time, but we'll give you an accurate ETA when you call, and tell you what to shut off in the meantime so it doesn't get worse. If it can wait for regular hours, we'll say that too, and save you the after-hours rate.

Is there an extra charge to come out to Blind Bay?

No. Blind Bay is inside our normal service area, and there's no separate rural rate inside it. Our after-hours callout fee is higher than our daytime rate, but before we send anybody out, we'll give you an accurate idea of what it's going to cost you.

Can you put a filter or UV system on our water?

Yes. First we look at where your water comes from, whether that's a small community system, a line from the lake or a well, and what's in it. Treatment gets sized to that, not picked from a catalogue. A UV system doesn't replace following a boil water notice. It's a second line of defence for when something upstream goes wrong.

Do you work on septic systems?

We work on the plumbing side: the drains, the line from the house to the tank, and finding out with a camera why it's backing up. Pumping the tank and repairs to the field belong to a septic contractor, and we're happy to work alongside yours.

Do you help with the heat pump rebates?

Yes. There are two halves to the paperwork. We complete the contractor portion as part of the job. The homeowner portion has to be submitted by you, and we'll walk you through it.

The one thing to know before anything else: CleanBC needs you pre-registered before the heat pump goes in, not after. Installing first is the most common way people lose the rebate. Our rebates guide explains the order of operations.
